Buying Wine in Paris
I'm stopping for a one-day layover and would like to buy several bottles of bordeaux from the super-popular 2000 vintage. Any recommendations of great wine shops? I'm also thinking about saving some money by purchasing "second wines" - that is, second labels of great wineries, like Latour's Forts de Latour or Cos d'Estournel's Pagodes de Cos. Any opinions on the relative value of these or other second labels vs. similarly priced Bordeauxs from lesser wineries?

I bought some bottles, from Legrand Fils et Filles (sp?) in Paris, of the Bordeaux '00 early last year when they were just starting to trickle in. None of the first growth stuff, but a few of the second and beyond. Then back in the States, the '00s started coming in at around the same time and I purchased most of my stash from thewineclub.com and k&l wines here in the West Coast. Lo and behold, we have cheaper prices here and the variety is overwhelming.
In any case, another second wine that you may look for is Clos du Marquis (from Leoville las Cases) which I was able to buy locally at $37 per.
BTW, I can honestly say that non numerically-classified cru bourgeouis and petit chateaux wines from the same vintage are also excellent at much lower prices. You won't go wrong with this vintage.
