Day trip from Taormina to Syracuse?
Has anyone found a one day tour that goes from Taormina to Syracuse? We are booked on a tour that goes to Sicily but does not include Syracuse. We have 1 day free in Taormina, would like to do a tour to Syracuse, have no idea of distance between the two places to see if this is feasible.
Any help with tour companies, prices etc would be helpful.
thanks

A day trip from Taormina to Siracusa is certainly possible; it should be about two hours each way.
I enjoyed a one-week Sicily tour with Compagnia Siciliana Turismo out of Palermo. They also have an office in Taormina and organize day trips, but it's a different trip every day, so Siracusa may not be the one offered on the day that you are free.
Here is their Web site:

You can contact them and ask what day the Siracusa trip is.
My guess is that there are other tour companies operating out of Taormina as well, so you should be able to find the tour you need.
Personally, I love Siracusa: the archeological zone and the old part of the city on the island of Ortigia. "Modern" Siracusa is just something you have to go through to get from the archeological zone to Ortigia.
