Dailing Paris from the US - country code help, please

I'm trying to call the Marriott. Their number is 33 1 53935500

The country code for France is 00 33. I keep having difficulty. Hints as to what I am doing incorrectly would be greatly appreciated. Merci.

You need to dial 011 to get out of the US. Then you dial the phone number (33 1 53935500).

Fantastic!

So I should be dailing:

011 33 1 <b>53935500</b>

I'll give that a try. Thank you!

What is confusing you is saying that the country code for France is 00 33. It is not. It is 33. The international access code when you are dialing from Europe is 00. When you are dialing from the US, the international access code is 011.

I had the 011, but I think I must have included the 00 and 33 along the way.

That link was very helpful to keep it all straight. Thanks!

International dialing can seem complicated, but the formula is basically the same. IDD (exit code) for the country you're calling FROM + country code for country you are calling TO + area or city code + local number. If you need more clarification, or to look up these dialing codes, visit http://countrycode.org
