Czech Destinations

Has anyone travelled to the Czech Republic and seen destinations outside of Prague that they recommend?I spent a week in Prague, and could spend a month there, they are so many beautiful and interesting sights. However, I also went to Kutna Hora and saw the Bone Chapel and St. Barbara's Cathedral, I went to Decin up by the northern border and visited a castle by a river, and they have a park with interesting rock formations, it is also close to Germany's Saxon Switzerland, has anyone been there? I also went to Ceske Budejovice which has the largest town square in the Czech Republic. It was beautiful. Has anyone been to Ceske Krumlov and tell me about it. Also did anyone go to Moravia or Slovakia?

Ceske Krumlov well worth a visit. If you'll do a search here there have been some very recent threads on CK.

You've been to a lot of good places, most of the ones I've seen. Yes, Cesky Krumlov is a nice small place, very attractive, with some intersting sites, especially the castle. You can find out all about it on its website or a decent guidebook, if you want detailed info.

I've been to Moravia and enjoyed it -- I stayed in Olomouc, which is a nice medium-size city (prob. about 100k). They also have a good website. There isn't really anything super outstanding to see there compared to Prague or Kutna Hora, things like that. But it's a nice place.

I also really enjoyed Hluboka and Holosovice for sightseeing, they aren't regular cities. Hluboka is a very small town but with a great castle, Holosovice is an interesting historical Czech settlement (a rural Baroque village). You can read about these places on some bus tour websites, like www.pstours.com, even if you don't use them to go there.

Yes - I love the countryside. I've been to all the places you mention plus more of the Cesky Raj region. Lovely and interesting.

Cesky Krumlov is gorgeous as well. Telc has a lovely town square, too, and I think it is more charming and prettier than Cesky Budejovice. Trebon is alright but not really worth going out of your way. Slavonice is really neat as it has some of the best sgrafitti in the country. Not very touristy, either.

Have been to tons of castles - my favourites would be Zvihov and Orlik. Small, gorgeous locations and not touristy. I have also been to Kutna Hora which was interesting. I've spent some time in Moravia but found it the least interesting part of the country to date. It is pretty but to me it just did not compare to other regions.

CK is great. I just posted my CK part of our Central European vacation. Look for the Maitai Tom Central European Excursion post. The last entry by me is all about CK. It is a great, little town.
