Czech & Slovakian currency...help please!

I am wondering, is the Euro also accepted in Prague & Bratislava?

If not, can you get the currency at your home bank or would it better to go to a bank there?

Is the Canadian dollar a good exchange there?

Thanks very much!

google

'czech currency' (or czk) and 'slovakia currency' (skk) and you'll find all you need to know.

Just as you would in the US or in the euro zone, use your ATM to withdraw local currency upon arrival.

sorry, meant to add more before i hit post.

In several trips to Prague I found that I was able to use Euros for purchases from many street vendors for essentially the going exchange rate.

For restaurants, hotels, taxi, bus/subway, etc it is necessary to have CZ crowns.

You are better off getting local currency from an ATM machine for incidental cash expenses. There are also many money exchange offices in Prague. For hotels, restaurants, major purchases, and trains use a credit card.

I am also Canadian and ordered Czech and Hungarian currency from my bank at home. We thought it would be easier if we had some currency to get us to the hotel from the airport when we arrived rather than having to deal with finding an ATM or place to exchange currency as soon as we arrived.

Thanks Everyone!

We will indeed use the ATM's when needed, but as suggested, also take some with us...
