Czech Air
Hi Fodorites,
My cousins and I have decided to go to Budapest and Prague for our trip. We'l be landing in the Budapest Airport around 1PM and plan on catching the 745PM flight to Prague immediately. We'll stay in Prague a few days, then fly back to Budapest and stay a few days there.
My questions:
1. Any experience with Czech Air?
2. Do I catch this flight from the same airport as where I land? I land in Ferihegy.
3. Since there is a 6 hour layover until my flight to Prague, I don't foresee any problems.....should I? I should have more than enough time to clear immigration, get my bags, navigate the airport to find my Czech Air flight, right?
4. Does anyone have a better idea? We toyed with the idea of a train ride, but even if we would be able to leave earlier (3pm, which is a little close to our arrival), the train ride is 7 hours long, so we end up arriving at the same time.
Any comments and suggestions are appreciated.

Nobody flies between Prague & Budapest unless they're on a stressed business trip - or are already at the airport, as perhaps is the case in one direction here.
Budapest to Prague takes 6h50 by train, that's city centre to city centre with zero check-in. The train ride is a chance to relax, watch the scenery read a book, have a meal in the waiter-service restaurant car.
Flying takes at least 4 hours, consisting of a bus to the airport, 2 hour check-in, airport hassle, the a cramped flight strapped to a seat, then another bus the rest of the way. It's disjointed, there's no time to relax, and nothing to see.
You can buy train tickets from 19 euros ($25) even a week in advance at Hungarian Railways www.mav-start.hu and even first class is affordable - though 2nd class is fine. You collect tickets from the blue internet collection machines.
In the other direction, you'd book Prague to Budapest from 19 euros at Czech Railways www.cd.cz/eshop and you print your own ticket.
The trains look this this: http://www.vagonweb.cz/razeni/vlak.p...garia&rok=2015
It's not just transportation - your journey between cities is as much an experience of Europe & our culture as the cities at each end. Flying is pretty much the same everywhere, the same experience over and over again.

Why are you landing in Budapest if you want to go to Prague? That doesn't make any sense. And then having a 6 hour layover!!! Land in Prague and leave from Budapest. Now some people have claimed they got really discounted RT tickets to some hub, but that isn't going to be Budapest (London, maybe), that's for sure.
I have flown Czech Air a couple times, airline is fine. It's an airline, perfectly reputable.
so RM67 is right, this entire idea is just not necessary, and that's the problem with it. Fly into Prague to begin with.
