This August we plan to fly to Gothenburg, hire bikes and cycle northwards along the coast to Oslo following the route of the Swedish leg of the North Sea Cycle Route.
Where in Gothenburg is the best place for bike hire? How easy is it to travel back to Gothenburg by train with bikes?
Does anyone have any advice about route options or accommodation?

Here's a link to accommodation in Sweden and includes activities information. I didn't see the bike route ,however, in the area your are planning to travel- the Bohuslän coast. I would be keen to find out information about bike paths that the "crazyguy" poster listed on the attachment Bilbo added. I have not seen a whole lot in the way of bike paths on the West coast of Sweden so am curious about this. Perhaps there are some hidden in the countryside but I often see bikers travel on the busy roads. Personally, I would avoid this but if you must then plenty of reflex-wear is a must!

Thank you for the links. There is a dedicated website for the north sea cycle route with good online mapping at www.northsea-cycle.com but I'm finding it difficult to find written route instructions and online searches for bike hire so far have produced only day tours.
