Culloden House Hotel

Has anyone stayed at this hotel? Would you recommend it for a special occassion birthday party or is it over-rated? Any nearby suggestions?

Thanks!

No - it is not in Inverness. It is very close to Culloden Moor and Clava Cairns. I have not stayed there but have stopped for meals or tea a few times. It is a gorgeous building and is pretty pricey. Probably totally worth it . . . .

It's about 3 miles outside Inverness, in a quiet rural location with lovely views over the Moray Firth. I haven't stayed there, but I have been at meetings, and it's a lovely place. Ideal for a special birthday.

Thanks so much for being my advance scouts. Since I probably won't be able to go there before planning a party, I needed some first hand experience!

Just wanted to make sure you weren't talking about the Culloden Hotel oustide Belfast. 5 stars, but a bit of a distance from Scotland.

I stayed there in September of 2001. We had an incredible time there. The rooms were lovely, the staff anticiapted every need and the food was wonderful. It was like staying in someone's home - no feeling of a hotel at all. Before dinner, there is a piper that plays outside, "piping" you into dinner. You have drinks in the drawing room before dinner, where you're brough the menu for the evening and you make your selections. When your meal is ready, you are escorted into the dining room - all very nicely done. I'm planning a trip for next year, and will spend 2 night there this time!
