Mitzy-
I am so glad I just came across this, as I am trying to decide between Trogir and Split for an overnight in March.
Wonderful trip report that had me cracking up from start to finish. Lots of great info, too!! Thanks for sharing!

Mitzy....you're fantastic!! I had the best time reading your trip report. You are an extremely engaging and witty writer. Besides the huge entertainment value of your report, I learned so much about the destinations on my planned itinerary for Croatia. I may make some changes, based on your comments and insights.
One question....are you glad you went to Croatia, or was the trip a disappointment to you, with the "sameness" of the towns and scenery? This is a concern I have had about going to Croatia, and might influence whether I travel with my easily bored husband or with a lower-key female friend.

marthag, I am unsure what you mean about the sameness in Croatia specifically. We find it to be extremely diverse and a place you would be hard pressed to be bored in! The coastal scenery is so much more different than Plitvice Lakes, for example, which is totally different to inland Istria.
Please give it a chance - it is remarkable and pure magic.

Hi Travel2Live2....I was referring to Mitzy's entry for 9/21/07, entitled "She's A Hard Woman", written after a week on the Dalmation Coast, from Dubrovnik to just north of Split/Trogir. Mitzy writes
quot; I'm loath to admit this, but after one week in Croatia,I've become somewhat immune to spectacular views of ancient walled towns surrounded by blue seas and azure skies. The realization saddens me".
I am planning an itinerary starting in Split/Trogir, and moving through Hvar, Korcula and Dubrovnik, from where we will do a daytrip to Montenegro. I,myself, can never get enough of that type of scenery, and love the repetition of charming, medieval cities and towns, especially if they are located along the water. However, my husband might find the repetition not to his liking, thus my question to Mitzy.
Thanks for asking me to clarify my inquiry. Any answers I receive will help me decide whether to travel with my husband or with a female friend who might appreciate the charming, albeit similar qualities, of the towns more than DH.

Oh, I'm going, for sure. I live in the Arizona desert, and the thought of 7-10 days of staying at waterfront hotels and traveling between islands on boats is incredibly enticing. Mix into that a rich architectural and cultural history, and the Dalmatian Coast is way up there on my trip-planning list. I'll probably visit Croatia in May, 2009.

Thank you for your comments -- it's more fun writing if you know someone is actually reading and enjoying your posts.
Grasshopper: Anja told me that she climbs those 204 steps each day after swimming off of Lokrum, so I shouldn't complain (but of course I do).
Marthag: I believe that Croatia offers plenty of diversity: the itinerary that I created was probably at fault. Hvar would have been a better choice than Korcula for me: I should have shelled out more money and stayed at one of their contemporary hotels. In addition, it I had traveled with someone who liked hiking and nature a night or two at the hotel in Mjlet would have been perfect: the island is stunning. And if you and your husband are really adventurous, staying at one of Croatia's lighthouse properties would be a totally unique experience. Lastly, I didn't venture into Istria, which, according to posters, is different from the Dalmatian Coast, and is a foodie's paradise.
