Hi Bob

When I worked in Courmayeur we flew into Turin - it is a small and easy airport.
http://213.82.88.182/english/raggiungere.htm
This is a site giving you bus transport from the airports.

If you fly in on a Saturday or Sunday there will also be coaches heading there - if you ask the guide (privately and sweetly!!), she/he may take you on the coach for a small fee.

Hi Bob! I have been trying to find out this exact same information! So far, I have been able to find out the following information:

1) By train
- You can take a train from Milano's central station to Aosta. It takes about 4 hours and you have to change trains/buses twice. From Aosta you can take a bus to Courmayeur, or change to the train to Pre St. Didier, and then take a cab to Courmayeur.
- You can take a train from Torino to Aosta. It takes about 2.5 hours, and you have to change trains/buses once or twice. From Aosta you can take a bus to Courmayeur, or change to the train to Pre St. Didier, and then take a cab to Courmayeur.

2) By bus:
- Sadem Bus has service to Courmayeur from Milano and Torino's bus stations, but the times and connections don't look that convenient.
http://www.sadem.it/index2.htm

-The website for Turin's airport says there is a bus from the airport to Aosta, and there are plenty of buses from Aosta to Courmayeur. This looks promising, but I don't have any further information.
http://www.turin-airport.com/eindex.htm

I would love to hear from anyone that has any information about direct bus service from the airports (or from downtown Milano/Torino) to Courmayeur.

Hi Maria Rosa
Great minds think alike????
The coaches are hired by tour operators to bring their clients from the airports (either Milan or Turin) to the various resorts.
These operators are mainly English but can be Scandinavian or German etc.
Some companies have a policy of selling available coach seats to anyone who requires them - others don't and the guide may take advantage of this situation.
To book in advance would be difficult but you may like to try some of the operators.
http://www.crystalski.co.uk/
This is the site of one of the biggest in the UK.
Hi Bob, Hi Mariarosa!

From Milan (Piazza Castello) there's a direct bus service daily departing 07.00, arriving Courmayeur 10.30.
www.sadem.it/orari_tariffe_lombardia3.htm

From Turin there's a direct service departing 07.30, arriving Courmayeur 10.30.
www.sadem.it/orari_tariffe_valle5.htm#su

Other services from Turin require a change at Ivrea and/or Aosta. For these services from see:
www.sadem.it/orari_tariffe_valle1_andata.htm

For the Aosta-Courmayeur services see
http://www.italaziende.com/aziende/s...rloc_savda.asp

Let me know if I can be of more help ...

Steve
Hi Steve

You are right about the transport for Milan, Turin and Aosta of course.
I was suggesting that with so many people being transferred to the ski resorts directly from the airports it is a bit of a waste to go to the nearby cities first.
The site I mentioned gives details of public transport directly from the airports to Courmayeur.
Hi Helen and Steve! Steve, you are amazing, you know all the bus/train/ferry schedules for all of Italy! Thank you both for your help! I will look into both suggestions, the only problem with the Sadem bus services is that it leaves at around 7:00 AM, so it forces us to overnight in either Milano/Turin, as our flight will get in around 9-10 AM. I know my husband will be itching to get to the slopes!

Hi Helen,

Bribery and corruption? Of course! Why didn't I think of that?! I've been away from Italy too long!

I just thought I'd add the early morning services to your post in case Mariarosa or Bob were planning on staying overnight ...

Steve
