country codes, help please
I should know this and I'm sure its in 1 of my MANY guide books, but I have ants in my pants and can not get it together to sit down and properly research. We leave Monday for a 12 day Mediterrranean cruise YEAH!!! and I need to know the country code when calling Spain, Italy and France from the U.S. Is the U.S.code the same no matter where we're calling? As many times as we have travelled to Europe this phone code stuff continues to confuse me. Thanks in advance. Mary

The above suggestion is very valid.
All of my phone books lists all the country codes. Germany is 49 from anywhere on the planet.
To call a European nation from the US, dial 011 for access followed by the country code, e.g. 49 for Germany, and then the number. To call the US from Germany dial 00, the country code, and the regular number.
For the US dial 001.
I think Spain uses a different access code, but for most of Europe, 00 is the access code.

Hi zwho, best settle down a bit, LOL.
To make an international call from the US you have to dial 011. Then if you are calling Italy for example you then dial 39 (that is the country code for Italy) and then continue with the phone no. But of course we no longer dial do we? We push the buttons on our phone. Like others have advised you all the information for all the country codes should be in the front section of your local phonebook.
