6 more days! Ended my job yesterday; packing my house today and tomorrow, moving on Sunday, unpacking at the new house Mon & Tue, then back to NO Wed to catch a plane Thursday am!!

Spent hours today rearranging flights for a cousin who is joining us...the volunteer crew who is gutting houses told her yesterday they are getting to her house on March 15...the day she was supposed to join us in Venice! She is coming the next week to Rome instead ... Katrina just keeps messing with us!

5 weeks total...can't wait!

Back to packing

Anne

I'm going the 'other way', from England to the State, on March 17th (be there for Paddy's Day, for some reason I always seem to be in the States for Paddy's Day!).

I'm visiting a friend in Santa Monica and then taking a car to do a desert drive, probably taking in Vegas for a couple of nights. Other than that, I've no real plan for what to do - unlike most of you people, I'm too bloomin' lazy to plan everything in advance!!!

19 Days to go...WHOOOOPIE.

I will be departing L.A. on March 23, headed to Amsterdam, Bruges, Antwerp, Brussels. This is a two week trip. 4 nights in Ams., 3 in Bruges, 2 each in Antwerp and Brussels.

I am pretty ready. I have the luggage picked out and ready, I have most of the little things I need, working on choosing which walking shoes to keep and which to return, I bought a few pairs So, yeah, overall I'm so ready!

This is a first time Europe trip. Only other places I've been are: Jamaica, Puerto Vallarta, and various large cities in the USA.

I'm most looking forward to simply taking it all in. Being an English teacher and Jewish, I guess I'm anxious to see the Anne Frank House, Jewish Museum, and Dutch Resisitance Museum in Amsterdam.

In Bruges I'm looking forward to just relaxation and taking it slow. Some bike riding and beer

Antwerp I'm not really sure yet.

Brussels, I'm looking forward to going to Breendonk Concentration Camp.

Of course in two weeks there will be SO much to look forward to.

OH! ANd I'm looking forward to taking a ton of fantabulous pictures.

Only twenty five days until Italy--third trip to Italy and also the third trip to Europe within a year which is not the norm for us. Flying into Rome and out of Milan. New places to see on this trip will be Orvieto, Venice, Lake Como, and Milan. We have twelve days for this trip--not enough time! We are definitely all ready with the exception of getting rail tickets.

110 Days until I go to Paris. I'll be there for 18 days (including Bastille Day) unless I can manage a side trip over to either Italy or England. This is only going to be my second time to Paris and I was there last in 1999 (aaah I can't believe it's been that long!) I'm 22 and ready to start seeing the world and Paris is up definatley up first.

I know I'm totally ready-- prepared is another thing. I can't decided wheter to bring a suitcase (impractical but I can fit so much more) or a backpack (seems more managable.) Have fun everyone!

It's 24 days until our trip to Rome and Amsterdam. It's our first time to those cities, but our second to Europe.

The flights and hotels are booked, and the itineraries have been written, but I've been too busy to do all of the reading/research that I normally do. Hopefully, I'll get a chance to start focusing on that this week. I also need to get the confirmation of payment for the Scavi tour. What a pain.

My husband is really looking forward to checking out Vatican City while I'm looking forward to just walking around both cities and trying to take them in.

Fun thread!

Exactly six months b/f we meet up with
a RS tour in Palermo. Two weeks in
Sicily and S.Italy ending up in Rome
for 3 days; off to CT for 4 days then
Venice for 3. Varenna for 4 days and
then 5 days still open. Maybe around
the Veneto region.

This is our 3rd Italian trip and first
tour. Usually we do Slow Trav types
of holidays so this is a real departure
(!).

We are celebrating our 40th wedding
anniversay - I hope taking a tour
doesn't mean we're officially Over The
Hill (and Far Away) LOL!

March 31 we fly SFO to Paris. We'll spend two nights in Paris, then drive down to the Dordogne for another extended stay. We'll be bringing along the dog and my mother-in-law this time. We'll stay the two nights in Paris at the top of the Butte Montmartre, a neighborhood I've never even visited. Not sure how that'll go, but it was the mother-in-law's idea! It'll be an adventure, no doubt. Can't wait be in Dordogne for the spring!

64 days and a wake up til we go to Italy for 15 days! airline tickets in safe, hotels booked, uffizi and accadamia ressies booked, praying for scavi confirmations, and dates marked on calendar for trenitalia 60 day window ressie making days. Also waiting to make borghese gallery ressies. Am I excited? Am I making my friends and coworkers insane? NAH, just another day ) but you know, it is true, the time will be here sooner than you can imagine! In November, 6 months out, It seemed a long way away, but time has a way of sneaking up on you! (and don't you wish the 2 weeks you are there went as slowly as the 2 weeks before you got to go??)

Aix-en-Provence/Grenoble in 2 weeks: I'm giving a seminar at the law school in Grenoble, so Mr. W and I are going enjoy a weekend away from Paris. I spent 6 weeks in Grenoble a few years ago, studying French - and I don't really need to see it again, but neither of us has been to Provence.

But that trip doesn't really count. Our next big trip is Oman (we leave 4 days after we get back from Grenoble). We'll be there for 2 1/2 weeks - lots of diving, a trip to the mountains and a night in the desert. First visit to Oman (and the Gulf region) for both of us (although Mr. W used to live in Egypt and speak a little of the Egyptian variant of Arabic).
