Could anyone tell me how many rolls of film you can take into Italy from the US without paying customs?

I apologize, to April, for this first sentence: "I believe that this is urban legend."

I am sorry if she or any other believed that I made that statement om the basis of any facts. I explained my intent in a follow-up posting. I believe that she would likely have understood that my advice - - even though she did not ask for it explicitly - - was based on my experience traveling to Italy, and my experience reading what others have written on this same subject.

It is true and it was true that I really DID believe that it was urban legend. My beliefs were mistaken.

I'll send this apology, and this entire thread to her hotmail.com address.

It's my hunch that she has already expressed her opinions in her follow-up post.
April:
Have you thought of a digital camera? We recently purchased one and used it on a recent trip to the Canadian Rockies. Took over 100 pictures and still had room on the smart card for 100's more, not to mention room on the floppy. Quality was extraordinary. Upon return we sent the pictures to friends in Japan, England and here in the US via email.
If you're curious, we bought a Sony Mavica FD100. Love it.

Thanks to everyone for all your responses. I really didn't think a simple question would turn into a bash session.

I must say in the past couple of years since I have discovered this forum I truely enjoy it and all the advice is so helpful. I must defend Rex here though because he has always given me good advice and been congenial in doing so.

I know sometimes laws are in effect but that doesn't always mean they are in any way shape or form, imposed so I do feel Rex's comment about *urban legend* were simply a tongue-in-cheek comment. I live in a very rural area of North Carolina and there is actually still a law on the books that no horseless carriage is allowed on a certain main road, but I assure you I rarely see a horse pulling the car down that road.

Again, thanks for all of your responses, I truely appreciate you taking time to answer my questions both on this post and on other posts I have made in the past. You are truely a wealth of travel info!!!

April
