Corfu, Olympia, Venice

I would like suggestions on whether to take cruise-sponsored tours to Olympia(from Katakolon) and Corfu or see them on our own. Can't do extreme walking. If on our own, please describe access to public transportation.
In Venice, how can I book the Doges Palace Secret Itinerary Tour on line?

I can't assist with your questions, but others will be able to....since they haven't yet, may I respectfully suggest that you break them up into two or even three different threads with VERY specific titles. Mixing it all up together like this doesn't draw the knowledgable ones to your post.

And you might try a search on the Doges tour, I am pretty sure it has been covered here.

Good luck!

You don't need a guide for Corfu Town, but if you want to explore the island, an island tour might be a good way. There are buses, but if you have limited time, you may find this a waste of it. Taxis are available near an area called the Liston in Corfu Town, a taxi could take you somewhere and pick you up later. It really depends on what you want to do. If you are looking for a good beach, then I would get a taxi - have a look at the agni taverna website for ideas of where you might like to go. The beaches on the west are very nice, Kassiopi is a nice resort village on the north coast, Paleokastritsa on the west is the islnad's best known beauty spot and you should certainly spend some time exploring Corfu Town. Corfu Town is lovely with a pleasant old town, 2 fortresses, a laqrge green, lots of cafes and squares. It is pleasant just to wander around the town.

Olympia - I think I would take the tour. The site is very interesting and the guides are usually very good. The museum at the site is also worthwhile. Modern Olympia is just a small town where you can wander round a few shops and restaurants. Very much a place that caters to day trippers. You will probably enjoy the site more if you know what you are looking at.
