We are taking a cruise to corfu in June. We are there for only 1 day. Is it better to rent a car and drive around and see the sights or try to hire a local guide for sightseeing. We are very independent. Driven in several countries. Any recomendations for a local tour guide?

You could hire a car, but if you are just there for 1 day then it seems a shame to waste some of it picking up / dropping off a car. Corfu Town is beautiful but to see more of the island you could hire a taxi driver for the day / for part of the day to take you around. If you want details of a good, safe taxi driver then e-mail me [email protected] and I will give you details.

I too am headed to Corfu in June - crusie stop with Royal Caribbean and only one day. By chance are you on the same boat? Looking for others to 'share' transportation to/from port stops and cities.

Reinvention,
If you have not done so already, join cruisecritic.com and find the roll call for your cruise (ship and date). Join the roll call and you usually will find lots of cruisers who have formed their own groups for touring, sharing rides, etc.

Hi,

I just read your request and i believe that if you are about to stay just for a day in Corfu, it would be better for you to explore the island by foot or use the local transportation. As for the tour guider, it's always better to see the sights with the help of a specialist!
