Cordoba - Things to do evening?
Hello great advisors,
We are going to be in Cordoba for 2 nights in early July 2004.
Anu suggestions of what to do at night?
Places to visit?
Places to eat Tapas?
shows to check?
I think we will be busy checking sites during the day.
Thank you for the help,
Sue

We have always found that dinner in Spain is so late that afterward all there's really time for is a stroll back to the hotels - but then we're not up for the clubbing til 3am picture. Before we usually explore the nieghborhood of the restaurant - do a little late shopping or just have a drink in a cafe.

Dear Sue:
My wife and I stayed at the Hotel Maimonides in Cordoba. It was a nice hotel right next to the Mezquita. In the Mezquita is a bell tower with bells. The bells ring at night. You get the picture.
We walked through the grounds of the Mezquita in the evening and then went into the Mosque/Church. Later we took a carriage ride through the Jewish Quarter and then we walked down to the Guadalquivir to see an old bridge.
We had dinner at a restaurant Rick Steves recommended called Taverna Salinas as I recall. The food was great and the owner/manager was fantastic. We had a nice dinner and I enjoyed looking at some photos of the famous Manolete at the restaurant.
We went to the royal palace the next day and enjoyed that very much.
Have a great time.

suenew,
The restaurant weber is referring to is El Caballo Rojo (The Red Horse) and it is fantanstic. They had the most unusual, delicious garlic soup I've ever tasted, and the atmosphere is wonderful. It's very close to the hotel we stayed at--Conquistador, which is also quite charming, and reasonably priced. The garden stole my heart...It's across the street from La Mezquita, which is a place I'm sure you already have planned to go.
Have a great trip.

Cordoba will be VERY hot during the day. You won't want to hoof it very far. That you'll do at night - the traditional Spanish paseo. Walk around, spot for a bite to eat and drink, sit at an outdoor cafe, watch others walk by. Relax and recover from the heat of the day.
