Copenhagen and???
I'm planning to travel to Scandinavia with my friend in early September - a 10-day trip. I KNOW I want to go to Copenhagen for a couple days, but I am having a hard time figuring out where else. We were thinking we could somehow hop from small town to small town, ending up in Oslo or Bergen. Is there a lot of "good stuff" too see on the way -quaint villages, ruins, beautiful scenery...perhaps some good hiking or boat trips? OR...would it be better to head our to Jutland and perhaps take a boat across to Norway from there?
My 2 main goals of this trip are to see (& perhaps cross) the Oresund Bridge, and to see a fjord or two (and other pretty/impressive scenery). So this is what I'm trying to work around.
Thanks in advance for your help!

To add some more variety to your Scandinavian sampler, Icelandair offers a three day stopover in Iceland for no additional airfare when you fly to Copenhagen. Iceland is gorgeous; you can do the three days either before or after Copenhagen.

I plan to go to Iceland on a separate trip, with my bf (who can never get more than a 3-day weekend off from work, it seems!)
Abram, what is this "Norway in a Nutshell"? I have seen references to it on this site. Where can I get more specific info on it?

Actually, I am in Denmark now. This is my 6th trip here. I have also been to Oslo but nowhere else in Scandinavia. I spend most of my time in Jylland (Jutland), the mainland part of Denmark.
If you decide to come to Jylland, I would suggest the following that might interest you:
In Aarhus, Den Gamle By is a reconstruction of many old buildings that recreate an old Danish town.
Also, just outside Aarhus, Moesgaard is a fascinating museum of relics, etc. from prehistoric settlers in this area.
Just across the Limfjord on the north side of Aalborg are the remains of a Viking village. I found it to be fascinating.
My Danish friends suggest that you give yourself enough time to enjoy Norway, particularly Bergen, which is supposed to be very beautiful. Also, the Fjords in Norway, rather than the ones in Denmark, are the ones that we Americans think of when we think of fjords. The main difference in the two countries' fjords is that, while Norways is very mountainous, Denmark is flat.
If you do come to Jylland, you can fly to Oslo, of course, or get a ferry from Frederikshavn or Hirtshals to Norway. Whatever you decide, I know that you will thoroughly enjoy your trip to Scandinavia.

Norway in a Nutshell is a scenic trip between Bergen and Oslo that involves several modes of transportation, including two types of trains, boat and bus. I think that if your search on your browser, you may be able to get the details.
