"Coolest" (temp-wise) Greek Island in June-July?
As the title implies, I am planning a trip to Greece in June or July 2017 and I am wanting to learn which of the islands tend to be "cooler" this time of the year.
If they are all going to be 35C+ then I'll have to be reconciled to sweating my bits off.
Thanks in advance.

The Cyclades are cooled by the Meltemi wind in summer, which I'd guess is one reason why they became popular in the period before air conditioning. You can really notice the difference on days when the wind is calm, because the temperature soars. If you can travel in early June there is a good chance you will miss the worst of the heat.
I suppose the more northerly islands of the Ionian and NE Aegean would be other candidates, but both groups are nearer the mainland and more sheltered from the wind.

If your choice is truly "June or July" the easiest solution is simply to go in JUNE ... i'm a May-Early June person myself, but I've been in Greece as late as June 18, and weather v. pleasant still. But I agree w. others, go to Weather websites don't just count on anecdotal info.
One fun choice is https://www.wunderground.com/history/ -- go to this site, put in an island (Naxos, Samos etc) and pick a date -- i.e. June 21, 2016 -- and you'll get the weather. Choose an island in each of the main groups, and you'll get a snapshot.

Early June is very pleasant but the last two years we have been on Naxos late June and it was very hot in the upper 30's.
Indeed the wind and shade made it all quite pleasant but we couldn't walk for more than a few hundred meters in the sun away from the beach area in late June.

sparky, over the years we've been on most of the Greek islands in the July and August period when our daughter was at school-so no alternative dates! I cannot remember any of them being anything other than bit sweating. Enjoy!
