cool restaurants for 30-somethings in Rome

Any recommendations for cool restaurants to go to in Rome? We're 2 single women from LA and NYC.. want to find a mix of authentic restaurants plus some hip, new places.. less touristy.. but cool, fun, good atmosphere. I'll be there late next week.

Cul de Sac. We did not have the chance to eat there, but it looked like a really fun place.

I agree with the other two recommendations and add Gusto (www.gusto.it).

At a minimum, I have three places to suggest:

1. ICE CLUB-this is a place to go and hang for awhile, just to see what it's
like-the interior is ALL ice, carved into seats, tables, the bar, in Roman Doric columns and the like, -they give you capes to keep the chill off-very wild! But a great place to have a chilling vodka-no food. Just about 20 meters from the Fori Imperiali and parallel to Via Cavour, on Via Madonna dei Monti-Monti, the neighborhood, is my favorite in Rome, great estaurants, bars, hip clubs and that incomparable backdrop of ancient Rome. Fewer tourists, more Romans.

2. OPPIO CAFE- you can look far and wide in Rome and go to more expensive hotel
terraces, but this hip bar and restaurant is hard to be for their all-weather
terrace that is right in full view of the Colisseum at night-it is one of the world's great views. Oppio is open until 2am, and they have very decent pastas, great aperitivos, pizzas, live music, with a really nice bricked arched interior, yet with this cool mod interior. Open until 2am as well, and they serve meals late-until after midnight, I think. Via Terme di Tito 72 (hardly difficult to find-it's right across the street from the Colisseum!)

3. ARANCIA BLU- this is a real favorite with the hip student crowd over in San Lorenzo. Great vegetarian cuisine, 400 kinds of wine (it's a winebar as well as a restaurant). There is live music and special events.

(website only in Italian)

3. FLUID-this is a nightclub, bar, aperitivo establishment, that serves a
copious buffet with aperitivos, but has this really cool interior-like a cosmic forest, with metal vines on the stairway, and a high tech waterfall along the back wall, black floors, chandeliers-the works!. There are djs on the weekends starting on Thursdays, body painting is going on here-nothing ordinary, it is a place not to miss!

Located on the lovely ancient Via del Governo Vechio 46/47
