Can anyone reccommend a convenient place to stay on our last night in France? We will be returning from the Dordogne area and will need to return the car and catch a 10:30am flight at CDG on a monday morning.If anyone has any suggestions on how to make this as painless as possible it would be appreciated.

Easiest is to stay at the airport. Here are some hotels at Charles de Gaulle. I suggest you write or fax them for more specific information, prices. my wife and i were to spend our last night in france at the mercure roissy on 9/12/01. that turned into a week at this hotel which considering everything was very pleasant. the hotel has everything [a/c etc]as it's neighbor the holliday inn for about half price. if the shuttle scares you [we had no problems]they will call you a taxi.the resturant is very good. this is an accor hotel and can be reserved on the web.

Anyone else? I am interested also.

We booked Hotel Comfort in Les Mesnil Amelot on the Net-cost 46 euros-price at hotel 66 euros.Clean,good beds and restuarant with good prices.Free shuttle to CDG.

We have reservations to stay at the IBIS in Senlis - a little town about 15 kilometers from CDG. It's around 50 Euro and was significantly cheaper than the IBIS right by CDG.

I've stayed at both the Ibis Roissy and the Radisson SAS. Of the two, I preferred the Radisson SAS.

I have stayed at the chaumontel identified in the post just above and may have been the one who wrote the original post. I reiterate my recommendation. Nice, charming chateau hotel complete with water and swans, nice restaurant,rates around $100 US and only about 15 km from CDG.

A charming hotel at the airport itself is a contradiction in terms. We have stayed at the Ibis several times when arriving from North America. Sparten but clean. Great for having a nap and then taking the training into Paris before heading to Provence the next day.

Have used the CDG Ibis a couple times for a last night's pre-departure stay. (There are actually two Ibis properties near CDG - one across the motorway and one closer to the airport. We used the closer one.) It is "spartan" in that the rooms are pretty much no frills functional, but clean as a whistle and quite comfortable. The restaurant is actually quite good for a relaxed dinner, there is also a pleasant lounge to meet and mingle with fellow travelers, and breakfast is a nice buffet. And, too, the price is the lowest you'll find in the area. They have a shuttle that runs to the terminals. Definitely a place to keep in mind. You can book online at www.accor.com

Has anyone stayed at the Novetel at the airport or the Holiday Inn? I wonder how that compares to the Radisson? I'm looking for something convenient that has a OK restaurant.

Joe,<BR><BR>I have not stayed at the Radisson SAS, CDG but I have booked 2 rooms their for my trip in July. I used a web site called octopustravel.com. Each room was only $73. Breakfast is included. They have a shuttle to CDG.<BR>I'm happy with the price.

Hi Berry<BR><BR>We returned yesterday from Paris. We had a 10:15am flight out of CDG Monday morning. We (family of 4) spent our last night at the Novotel CDG. While you wouldn't call it a sightseeing nirvana, it was perfect for what we wanted - clean, spacious enough, surprisingly quiet. They had great drapes that really made the place dark! The Novotel is one of 4 hotels that share a common huge lobby-like area which contains a train (RER) station to Paris, a couple of restaurants and direct access to shuttle busses which took us directly to our airport terminal. It was perfect - easy to navigate, convenient, etc. I highly recommend it for anyone with early-morning flights out of CDG!

Hi again Berry<BR><BR>PS - the Novotel even had 2 floors dedicated specifically to non-smokers! The room we had (for 2 adults & 2 kids) had one large double bed and a couch with pull-out trundle style bed.

Stayed at the Radison before catching flight in May. Very good. Very quiet and nice rooms. A shuttle to and from the airport every 20 minutes. The $70.00 is a good price with breakfast. Think we paid $90.00.

Stayed at IBIS Roissy last Monday night:<BR>rooms clean but the bar area was really<BR>poorly managed. Place was a hive of <BR>activity!! Had stayed in Mercures on<BR>the way up from the South. Right now<BR>they have a special on if you are over<BR>55 - you get a double room for a single<BR>price (about a l5E saving) plus the<BR>breakfast is two-for-one. Mercure hotels are owned by Accor and are ***.<BR>MUCH nicer than the IBIS....unfortunately, I had pre-booked<BR>the IBIS and the Mercure was full. We<BR>ate at the Novotel across the train depot and the restaurant was actually<BR>very nice (a premier cru Chablis was<BR>23E per bottle - not a bad deal!)<BR><BR>Both hotels have a shuttle to the<BR>terminals. Sometimes (only sometimes)<BR>expediency outweighs charm when it comes<BR>to airport accomodations!
