The Birthday Trip to Paris
Hello again...the semi-surprise "5 Oh-No" birthday trip for my wife is on for mid-November. It's a semi-surprise because she knows when/where she's going, but that's about it...

Let me start with this caveat...I know nothing substantial of Paris, which is why I come to this forum on bended knee, looking for help.

Starting to work on hotels that would be the most convenient, safe, comfortable for mostly first time Paris visitors. It will be a group of 6-8 women, (double occupancy), not travel novices.

My travel agent suggested the left bank...but she knows only slightly more about Paris than I do. How valid is this advice?

Thanks for your help as I try to pull this off without incident...

My wife and I are leaving tomorrow for Germany & France. In Paris we are staying at the Hotel Pas de Calais (check on line) Seems nice but will report upon return on Fodor, if you like. Last time we stayed at Le Sainte Beauve (great) Also check on line. Both are in the 6th- nice area. Are you going with 6-8 women????
andy

Dave, there's tons of info in the archives. Look at the top of your screen and type "Paris Hotels" into the search box. Highlight "France" in the subject search box and press "Find." Voila! More info than you can imagine. Repeat this process for anything you're researching, such as restaurants, sights, etc.

My husband and I have stayed at the Hotel Muguet in the 7th (near the Eiffel Tower) twice, once this summer and last summer. It certainly is safe, comfortable, and clean, although the rooms are not huge. It is located within walking distance of the Eiffel Tower and in a nice, upscale neighborhood with plenty of restaurants. It also is close to 2 different Metro stops. The only possible drawback is that there is not a lot of nightlife. The cost for one of their larger double rooms is about $90, depending on the exchange rate.
