Connections from Florence or Milan ?

I've not been able to find any decent connections returning from the Tuscany area to Charlotte or Atlanta. Has anyone found anything that doesn't involve a lengthy layover in Germany, France, etc? Or would I be better off drving back to Rome and flyinf from there?

You might find a bit better connections from Pisa airport than Florence. They are both small airports, so you will have to connect to either Milan, Rome, Frankfurt, etc. depending on airline.

You'd probably have to tell us more about what yuo've planned for the last days of your trip to get helpful advice about whether driving back to Roma is the better bet.

What time of year are you going and what day are you planning to fly out (weekend or week day)?

I'm planning to go next October for a month. Will be in Tuscany for the first three weeks and the last week is still up in the air. Maybe near Liguria, the Piemonte or the Lakes. I was thinking Milan would be the best location, I just can't seem to find good connections.

Delta has a new flight into and out from Pisa that looks good--check it out.

If you have to, you can always try flying Pisa-London, then home from there. I think you should be able to find decent connections and shorter layover times from London.
