Confusion on the regions in Tuscany
Hi,
I have never been to Italy and will be going in September. I was under the impression based on maps I have viewed that Tuscany is a region not a city. I have never seen Tuscany on any of the maps. Am I incorrect in my assumption?
I have read post where it sounds as though people are referring to Tuscany as a city such as Florence.
Thanks for the clarification!

Tuscany is one of 20 regions in Italy, with Florence as it's capital and most famous, most-visited city. Within the regions, there are provinces.

Don't forget that on some maps the Region of Tuscany will be designated Toscana. It's divided into 10 Provinces which have the same names as their respective capitals. Florence is Firenze in Italian, and English maps and guide books might refer to it as such.
