We are going with our 20 year old daughter who is studying in Athens for the semester. Many of her friends will be in Fira but we have heard that Oia is the place to stay. She likes action and we love quiet and beauty. We don't want to sleep with the sounds of discos blaring. We would also like a place that offers 2 bedrooms. Is it easy to get back and forth between Oia and Fira late at night? Any suggestions on where to stay?

2 bedroom units are few and far between and quite expensive. Check with Perivolas, Esperas and Katikies Hotel if you want luxury with a caldera view. On the other end of the budget spectrum is the Anemomilos Hotel, also with a caldera view and swimming pool, but the view is not from a private terrace.

Here's a good list by category and village:

Oia is very quiet at night. The only nightlife there is at the restaurants and a few small bars. There is a place just outside the Oia village proper, an easy walk, called Santorini Mou, where you can go for traditional Greek music and dance.
The road between Oia and Fira winds along the edge of some scary dropoffs, so if you're at all squeamish you might want to take taxis and buses. The buses stop running about 10:30 p.m. Catching a taxi from Fira to Oia at night is what you'll have to do if you stay there later than that.

By the way...There are plenty of places to stay in Fira that are quiet and private and away from the nightlife, and Firostefani is a pleasant and very short walk along the cliff from Fira, maybe 15-20 minutes.

Hi,
Oia is quite far away from Fira and expensive. You need a bus to cover the distance. At the night there ara not so many bus schedules form Oia to Fira and taxi is quite expensive.
You can stay in Kamari, which is a south-eastern seaside resort is an excellent place to stay. It has night clubs, restaurants, and cinema, water sports, beautiful beach for which the residents are proud of and much more things to do. It is not so far away from the capital, which is Fira, and it is much cheaper than the capital. There is a regular bus root to Fira and it is only 15 minutes to reach the capital.
For more information, I recommend you to visit this website that is quite useful:
