How could deciding which of two beautiful lakes to visit constitute a need for "HELP"? What's the worst thing that could happen? How bad could it be?

I prefer Bellagio. It's a much nicer, smaller, quainter town. Como felt more like a city to me, not as charming. We took the train from Milano Centrale to Varenna and hopped on a quick and easy ferry from there to Bellagio.

Be careful, poster, we're not allowed to show negative responses on this forum.

Devio, take a pick, either way you'll like the place. Train, mate.

Dear Devio,

We loved Varenna a short boat ride from Bellagio and Mennagio. Varenna was less touristy and has gorgeous gardens at Villa Montessoro.

Maybe you'd want more action over at Bellagio ???
Take the train to Como from Milan. Grab a cab to go to your hotel as it's a hike from the station if you have luggage.

If you stay in Como, you can take the hydrofoil around the lake and visit the various towns. Bellagio is good for an afternoon of shopping and with lunch. My guess is the accomodations are less expensive in Como then Bellagio, so maybe that's your strategy.

There are great hotels in Bellagio but it may be more costly. You can still take the hydrofoil to the other towns too.
