Colosseum
What is the ticket cost for Colosseum, Forum and Palatine Hill ? I am getting it online for 13.50 Euros. How much am I paying extra ?
Secondly, if I buy the online ticket, can I still get a guided tour once I am there ?
Thanks

If you are going to be in Rome for 3 days or more, get the Roma Pass. You get entrance to the first two sights out of a list of 25 and three days of unlimited use of metro and buses. I used mine for the Colosseum/Roman Forum and the Capitoline Hills Museums; avoided a loooongggg lines as well as got in via a dedicated door (Colosseum).
You can get the Roma Pass at many places; I got mine at the Office of Tourism in Termini Station (second level by Platform 25). Worth every penny, I got my money back by mid-second day.

Regular admission is 12€ so you aren't overpaying much, but if you plan to visit other sites the Roma Pass is a good deal.

This is the Rome Tourism page for the Colosseum. It rolls over to their booking site Pierreci for purchase.

Here's Pierreci's link for the Colosseum which tells about the tours (scroll down).

The Archeologia Card listed on the tourism website is a different pass from the Roma Pass.

This sounds like a good idea for us too - the 3 days start when you go to your first museum or ride public transportation for the first time on the card, NOT when you buy or pick up the pass, is that correct?

You will get a card (magnetized strip credit card type) that gets "activated" the first time you use it. The 3 day clock starts when you used it for the first time, regardless of when you bough it.
