Clarification on Tube Journey

I want to travel from LHR to Bayswater and avoid major stairs with my luggage. Below are the directions but: to me this looks like I get on the District Line twice which doesn't make sense to me. What would be the correction? Thank you.

Piccadilly Line train from LHR to Hammersmith. At Hammersmith get off the Piccadilly Line train and walk across the platform and take the first District Line train that arrives. Third stop is Earls Court. Get off at Earls Court and walk across the platform and wait for the District Line train marked Edgeware Road. Three stops to Bayswater.

Yes thats right - you have to change to a different line of the District Line at Earls Court - it has a few branches.

It would if you look at a tube map. There are different branches of the District line. All of them intersect at Earls Court. The one arriving from Hammersmith doesn't continue on to Bayswater.

this is very weird -- we were posting at exactly the same time (our second posts) but apparently yours knocked mine off. It says 4 responses, but only 3 display ??

Now I'll post this and we'll see if it says 4 or 5 . . .

If you are at St. James is there a difference between taking Circle Line or District Line to Tower Hill? Is one better than the other?

Thanks

They both run on the same line - just hop on the first one that comes.

Thanks - Tube map shows Bank and Monument are on an interchange station, yet they are a few blocks apart. Does that mean you walk down the street to get to one or the other, or do they somehow meet underground?

Thank you

They connect underground - so if you are changing at that station just follow the signs.

Embankment is directly across the Thames from Waterloo. Does the train bridge that connects them accept foot traffic?

Embankment & Waterloo are actually connected by tunnel under the Thames. I sometimes get a twinge of anxiety when I make this trip (several times a week) to think of all that water above my head.

However if you alight at Embankment and take the main exit on the right you will immediately come across Hungerford Bridge which carries mainline trains out of Charing Cross station. There are also two walkways, on either side of the rail bridge. Both of these afford wonderful views; Westminster on one side and the City & St Pauls on the other. It's a really nice way to cross the river on foot.

I will be staying right next to Bayswater. What is the easiest way to get to Waterloo via Tube?

Thanks

Note that the circle and district line only run along the same tracks in certain parts of the network - you need to take the Circle line in this instance.

To the OP...

I've done that journey numerous times and that is the best way to minimize steps....you will have about 23 or 24 steps when you get off the train at Bayswater, nothing you can do about that......
