City Centre Accommodation in Edinburgh

Hi. I know I have already posted a similar topic but wanted to post another question with my details clarified a bit better.

Will be in Edinburgh for one night with my companion. We are traveling by train from London so would like to find either a B&B or hotel (doesn't matter) near the train station and within the city centre, preferably an easy walking distance to the Royal Mile, the Castle, Princes St, etc. Budget is within the 80-100 GPB range, don't need anything too fancy. We are young so don't mind walking some, however, would like to be located near the main sites of the city and near some interesting and fun bars and restaurants. Would rather do mainly walking as opposed to taking any buses, although I do hear the bus system in Edinburgh is quite easy to navigate.

One dilemma we have is although our luggage will be light, our departing flight the following day does not leave until around 7PM the following evening so we will need a place where we can keep our bags until we depart for the airport. I have ran into an issue with a couple B&B's so far regarding leaving bags after check-out. I'm sure we can find a way around this but wanted to throw that out there to see if this is a common practice at places in Edinburgh..?

Any suggestions of accommodation within our price range and centrally located will be most helpful. We will be in Edinburgh early-November, first week. Thank you!

My son and I spent three nights here list past June:

We were very happy with it. It's certainly not fancy but it's clean and comfortable and the breakfasts were very good. We also found Roddy, the owner, to be very friendly and very helpful. It's about a 15 minute walk from the Royal Mile. And it was cheap, £60 per night for the two of us.

I can't say for sure how Roddy would feel about letting you leave your luggage. But it's worth asking. Though we booked through Budget Scot (for a small fee), I did exchange e-mail directly with Roddy before we booked.

And I swear I edited! Should be "this past June", of course.

You might think about leaving your bags at Waverly Station if that is a problem, just taking a day bag to your hotel/B&B.

We stayed at the Radisson right in the center of the Royal Mile in 2007 and loved it. There's a Jury's Inn a block or so closer to Waverly if you want something a little cheaper.

We stayed at the Jury's Inn 8 years ago. So can't give any up to date info on how the hotel is now, but the location is great. Very short walk from the train station, and if you go out the back door of the hotel you are in a close and it opens up onto the Royal Mile. When we were there, there was a fantastic tea room in that close that we stopped at every day. The hotel was fine at the time, but you might check recent reviews.
