We will be on our honeymoon and returning home via Marseille airport. We would like to stay in a town on the coast for 3 nights and and be able to get to the Marseille airport...any reconendations on towns? I was thinking cassis, but i have never been to this part of france and have no idea....thanks

We stayed 3 nights IN Marseille on our way home from a stay in Provence. We had a grand time - had a wonderful day tour from a local for the price of lunch. We did a day trip to Cassis and a drive along the Corniche for a bit too.

3 days in Cassis might be a lot.

I would stick with Cassis. To find a location equally as interesting you would need to travel to Bandol or some point farther east.

To the west, there is Stes Maries de la Mer or le Grau du Roi but they are some distance from the Marseille airport.

Cassis is small and if you are not renting a car, public transportation options can be awkward and not easily usable.

I agree with Debit that 3 days in Cassis is too much. How about 2 nights in Aix en Provence and 1 night in Cassis?

I think Cassis is much nicer than Bandol.

I thought of Aix too, but she wants to be on the coast.

Marseille tends to get neglected as a place to stay/visit. We had a nice hotel right by the Old Port at a reasonable price, a wonderful meal just across the way and our tour was amazing!

It was very easy to get to airport for our flight home and we even used public transit to do so!

I would much rather stay in Marseille for 3 nights than Cassis! I can't imagine, I was bored with it after a few hours.

I agree - stay IN Marseille. I was done with Cassis in less than half a day. It's not a city, anyway.

Another vote for Marseille. Day trip to Cassis would be nice.
