cybertraveler, we ate at Cipriani for our ten year anniversary after renewing our vows and everything was divine. Below is the excerpt from my trip report which you might find helpful. Congrats on your 30th!!

---------------------------------------
We continued on with the traditional "wedding walk" through St. Mark's Piazza, and past the Basilica and Doge's Palace. Valerio took some beautiful photos in this area, as well as many others during the course of the evening. Then, we awaited the launch to HOTEL CIPRIANI for dinner. The captain was most gracious upon his arrival and we felt really special having that beautiful mohagony boat all to ourselves for the ride across the bay to Guidecca. Once we arrived Hotel Cipriani, we were greeted by beautiful gardens and an wonderful staff. We bought Stef and Valerio a drink at the outdoor hotel bar, and enjoyed a nice toast to a perfect evening.

After Stef and Valerio left, we were seated on the terrace, right next to the water, for our sunset dinner. We started with foie gras with brandied yellow figs and a nice bottle of wine. The views over the water and San Giorgio Maggiore were splendid, especially with the cool breeze and the slight hint of lightening flickers in the far off distance during sunset. After our appetizer, my husband had lamb and I had filet of beef in gargonzola cheese with red wine sauce. Both dishes were absolutely wonderful, as well as the Cipriani chocolate cake we had for dessert. The service was impeccable, without being pretentious, and the staff were all very nice and friendly. The total for dinner was 235 euro, and well worth every penny.

After dinner, we wandered to the piano bar, which overlooked the gorgeous pool area, and had an after dinner limoncello. The bar only had a couple of other patrons in it, so it was nice and quiet, rather than crowded and stuffy. The piano player wandered in and asked my husband what he'd like to have played for me. My husband told him "You Look Wonderful Tonight." It was very touching.

We finally took the launch back to St. Mark's and meandered our way back home. We then called both our parents to tell them "We're married!.......again!" Just as we'd done the first time ten years ago. It was truly the most perfect and memorable day that we could have asked for and........we would not have changed a thing.

Thanks for your kind replies!
LoveItaly, I agree that Venice is a very overpriced place to dine, and the food can be disappointing. After reading your post, we'll definitely check out the menu prices in advance at the Monaco. It's hard to beat that location on the water, but maybe we can just do after dinner drinks!

Statia, Thanks for posting. I actually had read your entire trip report earlier, but forgot that you had eaten at the Cipriani. The whole evening sounds just like what we'd love, and the price sounds incredibly reasonable, compared to some of the places I've researched for this trip. We have our reservation at the Cipriani, and we're keeping it! I'll definitely post a report when we return!

Cybertraveler,
We will be in Venice 02Aug-04aug. We are booked at the Cipriani 02Aug. Try to see if you can get the menu through this link. Apparently both menus are the same. If I had any doubt , I do not have a single one now. The link is http://www.hotelcipriani.com/web/oci...estaurants.jsp
The menu for the restuarant is the same apparently as the terrace. When are you there. We will just be starting our 6th cruise with Windstar. We had our vows renewed on board the ship last year. It was completely PERFECT. The sails were unfurled. The sun was setting. We had friends there. Perfect!! Statia, my dear, yours seemed Perfect as well.Good luck to us all.

Hello cybertraveler, wihses to both of you on your 30th anniversary!! It sounds like you have everything planned out perfect. And Venice is such a romantic city to celebrate one's wedding anniversity in, probably one of the most romantic places in Europe. My best wishes.

I was also disappointed in Al Covo. I went there soon after the article was published in Wine Spectator was published. It was not bad, but also not memorable.

There is a Osteria where I enjoyed a lovely meal last February. Find the Hotel Giorgione, face the front of it and look right. It is just down the street on the same side (north and south blur completely for me in Venice). I had the most wonderful linguine al seppie, yumm! And it is a pretty place with a great wine selection and reasonable prices.
