Cinque Terre, Monterosso- Transportation & Accommodation questions

Planning our honeymoon, we are going to have 3 nights in Cinque Terre.

Need recommendations for
- Nice place to stay
- How to get there from Florence
- How to get to Amalfi Coast from Monterosso

Thank you

First, tools for estimating travel times:

Car: www.viamichelin.com. google map is easier to use, but it is too optimistic.
Train: www.bahn.com. It is easier to use than www.trenitalia.com

Now, Cinque Terre to Amalfi Coast is an all day trek either way. You might want to do CT-Florence-AC depending on where you are entering and leaving Italy.

We just returned from Monterossa. We stayed at the Pasquale Hotel right on the water at the south end of town. Beautiful views. Wonderful breakfast included in the room rate. The room itself was nice with new bathroom, I suspect new from renovation following the 2011 flood. We rented the family suite which was two rooms with a single bathroom. The rooms were small, my only complaint. We paid 250 euros per night cash-credit card was more.

You can take a train from Florence but need to connect in La Spezia. Monterroso is wonderful and not quite as touristy as some of the other towns. But be sure to take a half a day and visit the others by walk, train and/or ferry!

Unfortunately, I can't remember the name of the B&B we stayed at.

Il Giardino Incantato B&B is absolutely wonderful!!(right up the street from Pasquale Hotel that Cindywho mentioned). The owners are very nice and you will be treated like royalty. They have a lovely garden where they serve an abundant breakfast and then in the evening the garden is candlelit and the perfect romantic spot to enjoy a glass of wine. You will not be disappointed. They book up fast.

As far as getting from Florence to Monterosso, it is very easy, but you will need to make a connection. The B&B is no more than a 10 minute walk from the train station. In addition to the trail(s), definitely take the ferry once so you can enjoy the view of the 5 towns from the water.

I find easier to find accommodation directly on a map, so perhaps it could be useful to you to check out all accommodation in Cinque Terre on http://www.arbaspaa.com/cinque_terre_hotel.aspx website.
