cinque terre and genoa

We are arrivng in Milan in early November.
our two destinations before going to Florence are Genoa and Cinque Terre. We are seeking advice on the least complicated way to do this. We will be using trains. Thanks for any suggestions.

I'm curious as to what is drawing you to Genoa. I have been through there a couple of times but only on the way to other places.

If you wish to go direct from Malpensa to Genoa, there is a non stop bus Malpensa to the Genoa RR station. Genoa's waterfront is terrific.

For trains, just look at www.bahn.de or www.trenitalia.com. There is, of course, no "Cinque Terre" station - you need to specify which of the villages you're visiting.

We flew into Milan last Sept., took a short bus ride to the train station, and took the train directly into Riomaggiore. We landed around 10:00 in Milan and were in out hotel 2:00, if not earlier. It was painless.
