Church Atire in Paris and London

Hi,

when going in churches like Notre Dame, St. Chapelle, St. Paul's, and Westminster Abbey is it OK for women to wear pants? Are dresses or skirts required? Do we need to have a shawl? Do our heads need to be covered?

Thanks for your help.

Do you mean just to tour the place as a tourist to look at it? Sure you can wear pants. There's no reason why your head would have to be covered, I don't understand that, nor any need to wear a shawl.

A mid-length hooded and tufted arctic-white parka worn over a sultry burqa of muted earth-tones is the happenin' look in chic church looky-loo circles today.

Pants are optional - esp. in England.

Hi,
Thank you Christina.
Nimrod, When I was a kid girls had to wear dresses or skirts in a catholic church. I know that is no longer true here in the U.S., but I thought maybe it was still the case in Europe. I stand corrected.

Thanks

Hi ktyson, I can only speak for Italy but it is certainly alright there to wear pants. It is shorts and sometimes sleeveless tops that are not acceptable.
And women no longer have to cover their heads.

Thank you LoveItaly. I will assume that since this is the case in Italy it also applies in France and England. I will be there in late March and early April, so shorts or sleeveless tops won't be an issue.

Thanks
