Thank you Kerouac! I hope to see the windows in person next month.
It's been nearly 30 years since I have been to Paris in December and I am disappointed to hear the Christmas windows are full of Star Wars. How much do you suppose Disney paid for that?

Any of BHV or BOn Marche, or don't they do them? I really like Printemps, also, very nice for CHristmas.
Disney must have paid GL as that is so much free advertising. I suppose they might have thought it would appeal to kids, though. Still really selling out.

Kerouac,
Thank you for the lovely photos, so nice to see old traditions still continuing.
Paris is always beautiful and my second favorite city after my home town of NYC. When in Paris it does become my favorite city.
I have never been in Paris at Christmas since I live in NYC and the city is so beautiful at this time of year.I stay here to celebrate Christmas with family and friends.
I take my annual trip to Paris each May
I too do not like the Star Wars theme and vote for traditional Christmas windows.
I wish you and your family a lovely holiday season.

Disney must have paid GL as that is so much free advertising.
The windows have never been "free." In olden times, they clearly displayed the names of the sponsors: Mattel, Hasbro, Disney, Lego, etc.
Even now, if you look closely at the Printemps windows, you will see Sonia Rykiel, Burberry's, etc. For the last 5 years or so, the Printemps windows have always been for "adult" products in disguise -- Chanel, Dior... The Galeries Lafayette windows are more specifically oriented to children, but this year the demographics seem to have been reduced to 6-12 year old boys.
Any of BHV or BOn Marche, or don't they do them?
Bon Marché generally does pathetically bad windows, but I always try to check them out anyway. BHV is even worse, but it might get better now that it is just a sub-brand of Galeries Lafayette.
As far as I'm concerned the best windows in recent times were Galeries Lafayette in 2013: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CCDCXxdxfs4

I was at BHV yesterday. The windows aren't even up to last year's level, which isn't saying much.
It's all about London, for some unfathomable reason. There's supposedly a lot of terrific themed merchandise related to Britain scattered at special displays on several levels inside the store, but I didn't find anything worth buying except a couple of tree ornaments - and I was looking really hard.

kerouac------thanks so much for the wonderful photos....they really took me away to Paris at its best BUT the Printemps video with the lovely music in the background was FANTASTIC! I played it several times and will probably play it again.

There is nothing worse than the homeless to ruin the opulence of Christmas!
How is one supposed to enjoy shopping at Hermes when one is confronted with down-and-out street people lurking in doorways trying to get warm?
How is one to regale in the luxury of one's new Roger Vivier boots when one has to step over bag-of-bones addicts on the sidewalks?
Thanks for making us all feel guilty.
Now, I will be forced to give to charity or feel inadequate and shameful.
Happy Les Halles-Days.

After seeing Kerouac's pictures of the Star Wars windows in Paris I was amused to pass Bloomingdales yesterday (here in NY) and to see they too have the same theme.
I found these photos online if anyone is interested...

This is the first time I've seen your review of Paris' Christmas windows and I was mesmerized. Now I will have to search for previous years! I agree Printemps stole the show. How do parents ever get their children away from such fascinating displays?
