Christmas Restaurants
We are going to be in Vienna for Christmas this year. Does anyone have any restaurant recommendations for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day ? I was thinking of trying Korso bei Der Oper for one of the nights.

I can't find the thread but someone within the past few weeks posted a trip report on Vienna which had very detailed restaurant reviews.
One restaurant mentioned in the post was the "White Chimney Sweep," but the German name was used. I ate there about 18 months ago--it was excellent, very Austrian (to the best of my knowledge) but not too schmltzy and close to the Cathedral in the pedestrian area.
"White" refers to a folk tale about the sweep getting covered with flour.
Book quickly.

FWIW, here's the restaurant's web site:

If someone were to be in Vienna for Christmas eve 2008, perhaps the Cafe Landtmann might be a good choice...near the Rathaus, close to a tram stop, Austrian cuisine.

Hello Janisj:
No chance of being rude with your question. The answer has to do with a top secret time machine that is accessible only to a few Fodorites whose screen names I cannot disclose. You would be surprised at Ander's confidential response to my altogether timely answer to his/her question. A hint -- it may involve a GTG in Vienna this Christmas. Cheers.
