Cheap trips from London

When I was in London last time, there were last minute travel deals to various places on the windows of travel agents that were extermely cheap. Does any one know a site for finding out about similiar deals on the Net? thanks

Check out the websites for the low-cost european airlines like Ryanair and Easyjet etc. When we were in London last month, several of these has ads posted in the tube stations with cheap flights all over Europe.

Rex, best be careful, that little rhyme was awful close to "eniee meniee miney moe" and we all know that Southwest Airlines is getting sued because one of their attendents used that rhyme to get people to take their seats....how deep are your pockets? Be very, very careful Rex.

Try http://www.teletextholidays.co.uk/
Just a word or two about these very cheap offers on travel agent windows. There has been a lot of complaints recently. First they are often not available, used as a ploy to get people into the shop. There the agents would check up on one of these superdeals, and say,'Oh sorry, it's not available any more. But I can offer you a similar holiday at.... (£100 more)'. Secondly, these lastminute deals are used by tour operators dump unsold (ie unpopular) holidays. Often the flights are at inconvenient hour (like 11 pm departure, 3.30 am return) from non-local airport; there are all sorts of extras which are otherwise included in a regular package, like transfers, meals on plane, meals at resort, service charge, booking fee; hotel is allocated at the destination so you never know where you'll end up; and there's little comeback if things don't match up to your expectation (it's in booking conditions). So you take pot luck. I'm sure there are genuine bargains, but the problem is finding those from among hundreds of poor deals.
I think Thomas Cook and Lunn Poly would be the most reliable but you really have to be on the spot (London) to see which is the best deal. I went to Crete on a last minute and it was wonderful, there were no hidden extras, I had a serviced apartment with a kitchen. Transfer to and from the airport was included and the flights were at a civilised hour. I would certainly do the same again. Haven't had the opportunity yet tho'.
