I have just returned from a fab long weekend in Rome, Q! I travelled from Stansted (UK) to Ciampino. When you arrive at Ciampino, there is a special shuttle bus operating for Ryan Air passengers to take them to Termini Station for 8 Euros each. If youre not flying with Ryanair, there are taxis outside. We hired a taxi back to the airport (for convenience) and it cost us 43 euros, its expensive but I think it was the going rate. Other than that, I believe you can take a bus then train ride to Termini. Have a great time! I did

You won't miss it Q! as you come through the arrivals, there will be a sign with 'Ryan Air Shuttle Bus to Rome' or something to that effect, next to a kiosk. There was a fairly long queue but we got on the next bus with no problems. I think its your best option as taxis etc are so expensive, and we didnt want to waste valuable time with the buses and trains. The shuttle but will drop you off at a 'coach station' next to a building to the right of the station. walk around this building and Termini station will be in front of you, with the bus station in front. The Metro station is here too, which gets you to the outskirts of the historic part of Rome. Purchase a ticket from the tobacconist upstairs before getting on the tube. We were there for three days, two days were perfect, sunshine and it was warm enough to sit outside sipping cappuchinos overlooking the fountains and beautiful sights. One day, however, it was chucking it down! Take a brolly just in case.

Q: we stayed close to the station, too, in Hotel Piemonte - is this your hotel? It was very nice, very clean and comfortable. Will tell you more if you let me know if you are staying here, if you like. The area around the Termini station is not that great, there are a few homeless people milling around and its a tad smelly around the Metro stations... however, hotel was fine, and there are quite a few pizzarias and restaurants in the area. We really enjoyed the 'Bistro'.

Didnt have time for shopping so can't help you there! Found the break on Teletext, (TravelOx page). Quite reasonable prices. Everything completely to satisfaction, sights are fab, don't miss St Peters and Vatican, Trevi Fountain, Roman Forum and Colloseum (spelt wrong soz)... Only disappointment was the litter abundant in the City. The Metro is reliable but fairly dirty with loads of grafitti on the trains. Apart from that, fab fab fab.. BTW, I am thinking of taking my next break to Prague - perhaps you could return the favour and let me know how you got on?

You can take a public bus to your hotel - or at least in the vacinity for very cheap.
As far as a leather jacket - you could take a train to Florence for inexpensive (it is 1 1/2 hours) and get some beautiful quality stuff there. At mush less prices than in Rome!!!
Have fun - the weather is nice in March!!!

True, via del Corso is great for shopping esp. for leather jackets. We got our at a small store at the beginning of via del Corso close to Pza. del Popolo. It is called Gazelle-not a famous name or anything but it offered a good selection, good quality, and reasonable prices. Have a really great time! I wish I could visit too!
