People on this forum are very nice and you'll probably get a lot of helpful responses. But you'll get the most information by searching yourself for Paris. In fact, there is a very helpful "Superthread" that people started a few years ago. Spend 20 minutes reading that and you'll probably have all the information you need:

Another good place to start is Budget Travel's Snap Guide:

Not comprehensive, but an overview of places to see, eat, and sleep.

By the way, there is a London superthread too. Enjoy Paris! Don't forget to picnic on the Champs du Mars!

I believe that a typical price for a bunk in a hostel is ~20-25 euro.

You might also want to read over on the lonely planet website, their bulletin board called The Thorn Tree. There's a branch for western europe and also one called europe on a shoestring. very savvy tight budget travelers there. no offense to my friends here on Fodors but those TT folks are REALLY cheap -LOL.

If you click on the OP's name you will see that at one time she was going to Rome with grandma, then at some point that changes to going with mom and now she is going with 2-5 friends. Sounds like a bored junior high girl in study hall to me....
