Cheap hotels in Helsinki?
Hi guys,
This is an awesome website I am very glad it was recommended to me!
My boyfriend will be staying in Helsinki for two nights (Aug 19th to Aug 21) and we were looking for hotels for him but it's hard to find since we don't know the city at all. Should we look for something closer to the airport or center of the city? Are there areas we should avoid? What are good but cheap hotels there? Is it better to book hotel now or will they drop prices closer to the day (like a last minute deal)?
Any thoughts/help will be hightly appreciate

I suggest you google "late rooms Helsinki" and "Helsinki hotels." I prefer a city center location and last stayed at the Radisson Plaza. Previously, I stayed at the Radisson Seaside, and that was a little too far from the city center for me. I don't think there are any bad areas if you mean crime ridden. An inexpensive bus runs from the airport to the train station, a trip of about 30 minutes. The train station is city center. It is time to make reservations now, I believe.

A few years ago I stayed in Eurohostel www.eurohostel.fi, the rooms were clean, comfortable and cheap. The hostel was very close to a tram station.

I stayed at the Hotel Anna and although it is a budget hotel it was very nice, clean and central. Friendly staff and I would stay here again.

Hotel Arthur tends to be one of the cheapest hotels in Helsinki. http://www.hotelarthur.fi/index.php?...amp;id=hotelli
It's not a Radisson however, it's fairly basic. Don't stay at an airport hotel, where you'll find yourself very far from the city in an area that is far from charming. Also avoid hotels in Espoo and Vantaa, which are suburbs to Helsinki.
I like Hotel Torni, although the website of the hotelchain sucks: http://www.sokoshotels.fi/english/index.cfm
If I were you I'd check if there are goos deals to be had, but make sure the hotel is in the city centre.
