I'm traveling in Europe with a group of ten people who booked airfare separately. Every one of us found the least expensive flights, SFO to various cities in Italy, on the actual airline websites. We searched several of the consolidators and aggregators.

A further note: We watched the airlines for sales. A good site to use for this is travelzoo.com or smarterliving.com. Both have weekly newsletters that you can subscribe to, and info about sales will be delivered to your email in-box. I found the sales were usually posted on Tuesday or Wednesday. Several of the airlines, USAirways and United (possibly others) are running system-wide sales right now.

One more note (forgive the multiple posts, it's early here on the West Coast and I'm not a morning person): Don, the moderator of the Cheap Flight board at eurotrip.com, is well known for his expertise in predicting airfares. Click on Discussion Boards from the home page.

Thanks, Betsy, you have helped tremendously! I am looking for a flight for our daughter the 1st of July to Paris. I will check out these sights!

There are charters from Toronto to Rome (possibly the other way too) and other Italian cities. Check the Globe and Mail newspaper. Also check out Alba Tours.
