What is the best ticket to buy to avoid lines to the Chateau. Thank you

But this is not from first-hand knowledge...can anyone help/confirm? If you can buy ahead of time, you are in better shape. Another way is to join a tour...my hub and I often thought we were first in line only to watch the tour go first!

I believe that all tickets if purchased online have a timed entry. This should assist with eliminating the need to stand in line. I do not have first hand knowledge but a friend of mine recently went just this month and did not have to stand in line with their timed entry.

I tried a "dummy" using the link TD posted and all options have a timed entry.

I suggest booking for the earliest time possible for crowds, but may still be crowded ultimately.

We were there last month and we could enter the gardens right away, it was only the main Palace that had a timed entry.

Ever since returning from Paris I've been suggesting buying in advance. We were shocked at how crowded Paris was in early May, I hate to imagine how bad it will be over the summer.

I've been to Versailles to see the Chateau and again for the grounds. The former was mainly empty rooms. The latter was far more interesting. We didn't need to wait in any line, could stop on a bench for a picnic lunch, see the famous fountain in operation, tour the two Trianons and the Hamlet. I think we walked for about 4 miles that day.

i agree. I was excited to see the interior, but the gardens were magnificent. I highly recommend long strolls. Beautiful!
