Chateau de Roques outside St. Emilion?
Has anyone stayed at Chateau de Roques outside St. Emilion? Couldn't find any reviews on TripAdvisor. Looking for one night in this area in June under about 100 euros for 3....any other suggestions?
Thank you....
Thank you....

I too was trying to make reservations in St. Emilion and found only one room in the area free. So I wrote to the tourist office, and sure enough June 19-23 is Vinexpo in Bordeaux and many will be touristing before and after. And in addition, either Saturday June 18 or Saturday June 25 is a big ceremony in St. Emilion with a procession of the Jurade, the wine brotherhood, with intonations at 11, proclamations froma tower at 4, medieval music, and other events. So "bonne chance" getting a reservation anywhere if those dates are when you are planning your visit.

Hi Liz,
We will be staying there in Sept. Look forward to a report from you.
If it is not available, also consider http://www.belair-monlot.com/anglais/bienvenue.htm

Ira: You've been kind enough to give us good advice last year about Italy and this year about the Dordogne. We're also going to SW France in September. What is your itinerary like. Perhaps we could meet for a glass of vin!

Hi sha,
>What is your itinerary like. Perhaps we could meet for a glass of vin!<
We will be in the Bordeaux area from 9/8 to 9/12. From the 13th to the 16th we see Carcassone, Albi, Conques and Cahors. We stay in Beynac from the 17th to the 22nd, and then go on to Paris for a week.
Happy to join you in a glass or two.

Ooh--we'll be in Saint Emilion on June 18, so thanks for the info about the Jurade. Sounds like fun, although the town will be even more of a zoo. . .
We're actually going to Vinexpo and we had difficulty finding a place because we didn't want to go through the Vinexpo lodging office (you need to commit to five nights and pay in full way in advance, which we didn't want to do). Finally we found a place in Saint Estephe. But we've heard of people who had to book rooms as far away as Bergerac.

Ira: We'll be in the Bordeaux area the night of the 12th. Right now we have reservations at the Caudalie but are looking for somewhere that might be more conducive to getting a mid-morning flight out of the Bordeaux airport. Keep in touch- it would be fun to meet another Fodorite.
