Chateau de Courance - info needed

Hello,
I am two weeks from traveling to Europe for a month (1 week in the Paris area) and have been watching any travel shows I can come across.
Just the other day I fell in love with the view of the chateau and gardens of Courance in the Ile de France region.
However, I have searched high and low and cannot seem to get ANY handy info over the web as to where it is and if it is as amazing as it looks.
Even the website link to it has gone down.

Has anyone ever gone to Courance? If so, what do you think? Any advice on if it is a good day trip / how to get there / etc.?

any info will be much appreciated!

The Michelin Green Guide to the Ile de France gives the Château de Courances two stars--I can't believe I've never heard of it until now. The guide says that the park is especially grand.

The château is 3 miles north of Milly-la-Forêt and west of Fountainebleau--combining a visit there along with Courances would be a very nice day's outing.

Thanks for the tip, Underhill!...

I wish more people went and saw it... from what I saw on TV, it was absolutely magnificent, and I have been to Versailles already...
I suppose we would have to rent a car to get there??...

has anyone else heard of it / been there?

I've put the château on our list to stop by on our way from Normandy to upper Burgundy in September. It's close to our route and will be a nice place to break the trip; sounds like the park would be good for a picnic lunch.

I imagine you'd need a car to get there, although I believe you can go to Fountainebleau by train--perhaps a taxi from there?

Here's a web site that I just looked at:

http://www.chateauxandcountry.com/ch...ces/index.html

The site gives information on the nearest train station, which is something like 8 km away.
