charming hotel on the sea in sao miguel azores?
Hi All,
I am looking to take a small vaca to the Azores. There are direct flights from Boston and it is only 4 1/2 hours. I can not find a small hotel on the beach. Does anyone have a suggestion?
Thanks, Yipper

Sorry to have missed your post when it first went up. I can't comment directly about Sao Miguel since I have yet to go there, but having visited the Azores 14X (mostly the central island group)I do know something about it. First, don't think of any of the Azores as a beach place. That is not where the beauty, fun and adventrure lie. Packed2Go has an excellent trip report on the Azores that I highly recommend. It includes Sao Miguel and some of islands of the central group as well. www.wickedgoodtraveltips.com/?p=1617

Have you considered a rental house? We rented half of a duplex in Mosteiros right across the street from the ocean. It had two bedrooms, living room, kitchen , bathroom, washer/dryer- great place. We would sit on our front patio for hours evaluating the waves. One morning we woke up to see surfers in wet suits!! We never expected that!!!Mosteiros is a small village about 20 minutes or so outside Ponte Delgada. We loved it because it was quiet and we got to see the "real" people. There were two village markets and three restaurants. Lots of opportunity to walk along the ocean and up into the hills. Depends upon what you like to do!
Hmmm- I can't find the website listing right now. The owner's email is [email protected] in case you are interested. She can tell you her current website.
