Charming, bike-able town btwn Munich and Berlin?
Hi All,
I'm visiting Germany in two weeks. Going for 7 nights, arriving in Munich very early (7:30am) for 3 full days. We're then heading to Berlin via train for another 3 nights. We'd like to stop for an overnight in a town on route to Berlin. We're hoping to stop somewhere charming, scenic, and hopefully bike-able. Ideally we'd arrive in this spot before lunch, rent a bike for the afternoon, take in the scenery/charm and then stay overnight, departing for Berlin the following morning. This location does not need to have noteworthy historic sights (we will get a lot of those in Munich and Berlin) but rather would be quaint, charming, etc. -- i.e. a contrast to the big cities of Munich and Berlin.
Suggestions for this town? Bamberg was a thought but I'm eager for other suggestions. Thank you so much?

My husband and I are planning a trip in mid-September. We're flying into Berlin and then staying a couple of days at the Garni Hotel Behrendt in Lubbenau on our way further south to Munich. I'm still in the planning stages myself and have never been there before. They have bikes - I just shot them an e-mail to see about day-long rentals. We're going to bike from Lubbenau to Lehde and poke around that town for a day.
Here's the Garni Hotel Behrendt's website: http://www.garni-hotel-behrendt.de/index.php.
Like I said, I have never been there before so I can't give you a recommendation per se. This is just what we're planning. Since you're making the trip before us, I'd love to hear your thoughts on the place if you end up staying there.

Naumburg. Right on the train route Munich - Berlin. If you leave Munich early you can make it until lunch time. Definitely bike-able, charming historic town with awesome sights (cathedral and old town) and a lovely countryside (vineyards).

Thank you both! I will definitely come back and post a report when I get back from my trip.
Mike's girl, we are also looking at Bamberg, and found this hotel which rents bikes:

Figured I'd mention it incase it could be of help to you. Thanks again!
