Charles Bridge Reconstruction Postponed??

Is it true that the reconstruction of the Charles Bridge has been postponed until the end of September? I haven't been able to find much info about it other than this site:

Thanks for your help - I will be there at the beginning of September...

I HOPE this is true!!!!

I will be in Prague the beginning of September and was disappointed when I heard about the construction. Can anyone confirm the construction will be starting at the end of September?

It seems like it will still be open during the reconstruction (I'll probably be visiting this winter or next Spring, so I surely hope so!)

I read something that the rehab would begin in Sept (sorry I did not copy the source). This news pushed me to reserve in August so I'll tell you then first hand what's going on.

We were there the first few days of this month and there was absolutely no sign of any reconstruction.

There was a little scafolding over one of the statues that was being refurbished and a sign indicating who funded it.

We wanted to see the Bridge when the lights came on. It doesn't get dark until well after 10PM!!!

We didn't eat until almost 11PM.

Also, I went very early in the morning and shared the Bridge with about half a dozen others. Great time.

Bailey:That's why we stay at the 16th century Three Ostriches Hotel (U Tri Pstrosu) right smack alongside the bridge. Of course, only on off season when there's not too much early morning noise emanating from the bridge. But what a sight...I remember one morning in mid-March when a light dusting of snow fell during the noght and we woke up to look upon early morning footsteps in the snow. Great photo op.

It's funny to me that I am getting info about my own city from this site! (What does that tell you about my travels so far this summer--certainly more days out of town than in!)

When I hear more specifics about the reconstruction (my husband has been hearing about it at work but without specific times, etc.), I'll be sure to post for those of you who are in planning/anticipation stages.

As of now (two days ago, in fact) there is not one sign of reconstruction on the bridge. --MP

My hotel is right next to the bridge and there is no sign as of this morning of any reconstruction.

Thank you all for the responses. I'm looking forward to our trip to Prague. I fell in love with the city on my first and only (so far) visit several years ago and I look forward to showing it to my husband who has never been. I especially enjoyed the Charles Bridge and I'm hoping that it won't be under construction while we're there.
