Best month to visit Prague and Dubrovnik?

We're thinking about a trip to Prague and Dubrovnik. We usually like to travel to Europe in Spring or Fall to avoid tourist crowds & still have good weather. Which would be the best month to visit these two cities?

Either the Spring or Fall. You will avoid tourist crowds and still have good weather.

We were there the end of April a few years ago. Weather was just right.

Anyone else? Has anyone visited either of these two cities in September or October?

We visited last year in the first week of October. It was a little cool and sometimes a little rain but the lack of serious crowds made it a dream time.

We have toured Prague in both May (2002) and September (2001). Our 2 week stay in Prague in September was very rainy (we were assured that this was unusual). The time we spent in May was very nice. We had a great time both times (even if September 2001 was somewhat scary because of 9-11).

I went to Dubrovnik in the beginning of Sept. 2002 and had beautiful weather. Last Sept. in Hvar started out cloudy, then rain one day, then clear skies. As for Prague - I went at the end of Oct. 2002 - mostly grey days with scattered rain and a couple sunny days - very bi-polar.

I have been to Prague twice in May, and one time (2 years ago) it rained virtually every day, and a lot. It was also quite cool. That was the year they had that big flood a few months later, I think. Another May the weather was fine. Prague is a very popular tourist destination now, and there were plenty of crowds there in May because they have a very famous classical music festival, partly. It wasn't intolerable to me, though, and I imagine it's worse in July-August.
