Chamber Music in Prague?

I will be visiting Prague for 2 weeks in October, and wonder if there are venues (like chapels--thinking St. Chapelle in Paris) or locations in town where one finds chamber music concerts or live music?

Thanks,
Karen

Thank you, Gertie. I will investigate.

I wonder if there are places where non-professionals play, like some violinists play under the columns of the museum....

You will be handed flyers for concerts as you walk about. There are often musical groups playing on the Charles Bridge. Just because they are buskers though does not mean they are not professional.

Thanks, basingstoke.

I enjoy supporting buskers, and have fond memories many places of enjoying their music, as long as it's not rock or electric.

If you go to the town hall you can get a fairly comprehensive list of performances. Prague is a major music venue and there are concerts and performances almost constantly in many of the churches as well as a variety of concert halls. and I can tell you that many of the street performers have a quality you will often see in major orchestras in the US.

(Sorry for the delay in seeing your responses, but I think I forgot to tick the 'send responses' box when I posted originally.)

Basingstoke, I so enjoyed your photos--really exactly what I was looking for. One of my fondest memories of Brugge was encountering little trios of chamber musicians tucked into this corner or that of town. I'm researching investing a telescoping stool I can carry with so when I encounter such artists I can just sit down and listen ;~)

Thanks, too, nytraveler--good idea to go to the town hall. I'm delighted to hear there are church performances. I love violins in church!

There are also often performances in the old Sephardic Synagogue - a very attractive and interesting space.
