CDG - Where to meet or how to get from Terminal 1 to 2A

OK, I already read the other thread on meeting at CDG (http://www.fodors.com/forums/threads...2&tid=34542447)

My son is coming in on United first which arrives at Terminal 1 and we are coming in on American at Terminal 2A. Is there a shuttle he can take over to Terminal 2A? Suppose he could always take a taxi. Is meeting at the McDonalds idea since it would be readily recognizable or how about the American Airlines Ticket counter?

I have already given him a map with directions to the hotel in case one of us is late so he can get there on his own. I didn't think this was going to be a problem because originally he was flying with us.

Thanks.

There is a shuttle between aérogare 1 and 2. Í forget which door it leaves from at terminal 1 (34 maybe?), but it leaves from the lower level and will be marked "Navette". It arrives at door (porte) 5 at CDG2, so that would probably be the best place to meet him.

That sounds good or do as Robespierre suggested in the other thread, and have him determine our gate and meet us at the greeting area.

Thanks for the detailed info.

Well, I'm probably going to get criticized for my bad composition of the last message - I didn't mean that Robespierre could meet us but my son could meet us.

Ronda:

CDG is a pretty crazy airport. If he has plenty of time to figure out the "greeting area" for your flight, that's fine, but have a backup plan with a more specific location...just in case.

Okay, I'll meet him. When's his flight?

Tell him to look for a tall, distinguished gentleman amid the throng of meeters and greeters bearing cryptic signs in the area outside the one-way swinging doors demarcating the customs hall from the terminal proper (the so-called "meeting area").

I'll be the nebbish behind the aforementioned gentleman.

We didn't have any trouble. My son met someone who basically led him by the hand to the shuttle bus. He was there to greet us as we came out of the gate area which, incidentally, we did without picking up our bags. From the meet and greet area I was able to walk back into the gate and luggage claim area, without being questioned, and get our bags! That's pretty bad security if you ask me.
