hopeho, I have taken the AF Bus to Gare de Lyon, and to me, it's the best way. I've gone from Terminal 2, and it's very easy and there always seems to be one waiting. I've taken it many times to Gare Montparnasse, but it stops at Gare de Lyon first, and I don't believe it took an hour. Sometimes the trains direct from CDG (to Lyon or Dijon, etc.) leave a couple of hours later than from Gare de Lyon, so you can arrive at your destination earlier than if you wait around the airport for the direct train. I love the Air France Bus!

First, thanks to all for straightening me out on the Air France bus route to Gare de Lyon. I definitely will try that instead of the RER -- outside rush hour. I would not count on the trip taking less than an hour, however. Not to say it couldn't happen, as several have testified As for boarding a long distance train at the airport versus the Gare de Lyon, will you have your train tickets in hand when you deplane? If you must deal with an SNCF ticket window that will be much easier at the airport, I believe. The waits in window lines at the Gare de Lyon can be long, 10 to 20 minutes on some days, and even the automatic vending machines, which will allow you to purchase from scratch or withdraw already reserved tockets (if you have a credit card with a PIN number) often all are occupied.
